Mega Electronics Ltd acquired eHIT eHealth business solutions

(08.10.2009)

Mega Electronics Ltd has its main focus on medical and health monitoring technology solutions and it markets medical devices, sensors and software worldwide. The company has been in business already over 25 years and it has distributors in over 30 countries.

The acquisition of eHIT’s eHealth business opens new growing business opportunities for Mega which has long experience to be a reliable medical device and software supplier in biosignal monitoring solutions.

” By offering time and cost saving home care monitoring solutions together with smart biosensor technologies we are able to supply complete service platform for health care providers and for modern home care organizations”, says CEO Arto Remes from Mega Electronics Ltd.

The newest eHIT mobile solution for home care has been in use in Australia by 100 care givers and the results of the first benchmarks are excellent. “The results show that in just one area of the INS Group business, rostering work that would previously take around 35 hours per week is now taking around 6 hours thanks to the new technology that allows carers to respond instantly to patients’ needs and changes. This has provided a productivity saving of up to 29 hours per week.” Mr Rafin Managing Director of the INS Group said. “These figures don’t include yet the time savings gained by care workers in the field.” continues Mr. Rafin. “Even though those metrics on care workers have not been released, the team have said that the system has already shown benefits.”

The mobile handset in use by the nurses not only receives the rostering information for the current day or week but it can also send and receive real time information on the care being provided. For example the care giver can record a voice note to be attached to the patient’s file, provide real time feedback when an activity is completed, or easily record notes and send messages to other nursing staff. As all Health Gateway based products, the system can also transfers measured data such as blood pressure, blood glucose, body temperature, blood oxygen level (SpO2) and even ECG recordings from the measuring devices to the health care provider – wirelessly, securely and without manual input of data. Additionally GPS capabilities provide a better way to manage the visits to the patients and improve the safety of the care personnel. The solution will be then utilized by other health care providers in regional areas across the country in co-operation with the biggest Australian mobile operator.

Other eHIT software solutions includes remote monitoring of vital signs and patient information from different measurement devices (e.g. blood glucose, blood pressure, ECG, etc.) to health care service providers by using mobile and wireless technologies. Mega will expand marketing activities of acquired eHealth solutions for European and US markets during 2010-2011.

Ferrari test drive with ME6000

(07.08.2009)

As part of Personal Health Systems study Mega Electronics took part in Ferrari test drive (Modena, Italy July 2009) in which biosignals were recorded from test driver during the drive.

We'd like to share a few shots taken from the test to demonstrate the testing environment and usability of ME6000.

The new Ferrari California from Ferrari served us as a test car during the study.

Mr. Olli Tikkanen from Mega Electronics setting up ME6000 equipped with MegaWin software just before the test drive.

ME6000 and Ferrari ready to go. As you can see, lightweight monitoring system doesn't affect on driving or comfort.

In the measurements muscle activity of four muscles, galvanic skin response, skin temperature and electrocardiogram were measured succesfully, in addition to eye movement and facial expressions tracking.
