The doctoral dissertation of Licentiate in Philosophy Eini Niskanen entitled “Human brain mapping using structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging and transcranial magnetic stimulation” has been examined on 13th January. The aim of the study was to develop analysis methods of TMS and functional and structural MRI to study the brain areas related to motor functions, speech and language. The findings demonstrate the advantages of combining different methods and modalities in brain research.
The ME6000 system, developed by Mega Electronics, was used in the transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) studies to define the motor threshold for finding out optimal stimulation intensity.
